Blessings to Empire.
Meanwhile, Gaal (Lou Llobell) and Hari Seldon (Jared Harris) continue working to ensure the longevity and purpose of Foundation. A Season 4 time jump would have wiped three actors from the cast, but following Asimov's blueprint means this won't happen. There's plenty of material in Asimov's other books, like the Robot series, for Foundation to begin incorporating.

Here's the release schedule for Foundation season 3.
So here's something funny: Apple has a habit of premiering episodes the night before their advertised premiere date, usually at 9:00 p.m. Following Foundation season 3, there's plenty of story still to tell, and Apple and other creatives involved have shared some information on where things might be headed.
Foundation season 4 is confirmed to be in development with Apple TV+, lead co-showrunners Ian Goldberg and David Kob.
The pair took over the series following creator David S. Goyer's departure ahead of season 3, and have done a successful job landing the critically acclaimed third season.
Despite Goyer's leave as showrunner, he was still involved in season 3 as a writer and executive producer. Some of the news surrounding Foundation Season 4 could be interpreted as concerning, but there's still cause to be excited about the epic space opera's return.
Beginning in 2021, Foundation has been an ambitious project from the start.
When we say things are getting good, we mean it. Foundation has a way of bringing back characters.
Supporting cast members who will likely return are Terrance Mann as Brother Dusk, Cassian Bilton as Brother Dawn, Synnøve Karlsen as Bayta Mallow, Cody Fern as Toran Mallow, Tómas Lemarquis as Magnifico Giganticus, Troy Kotsur as Preem Palver, Brandon P.
Bell as Han Pritcher, and Rowena King as Kalle.
Foundation season 4's story looks like it will be based on the novel Second Foundation, which will conclude Asimov's main Foundation trilogy. Seasons 2 and 3 covered the second book, Foundation and Empire, splitting up the book's two parts.
The Prague Reporter has confirmed Jan. 5, 2026, as Foundation Season 4's first day of shooting.
Lou Llobell is the safest assumption for a returning star, as her character, Gaal Dornick, will continue to be the leading protagonist in season 4. Other big changes, like making Cleon into a string of clones, have allowed Cassian Bilton, Lee Pace, and Terrence Mann to continually return and play different versions of Empire's ruler. As for the rest of the cast, it will be interesting to see how the new season handles their characters.
Lee Pace, Laura Birn, and Jared Harris are fan favorites in the series, but their characters Brother Day, Demerzel, and Hari Seldon, all saw seemingly conclusive ends to their stories.
ET. So while we will give you the stated premiere dates for Foundation season 3, keep in mind an invisible asterisk, as you just might be able to watch new episodes even earlier than midnight.
Otherwise, expect new episodes to begin streaming at 12:00 a.m. It made sense in the books, but Apple TV's take on Foundation understandably wants a group of recognizable and familiar faces.

Following Foundationseason 3, here's what we know about the show's continuation.
What sets the book apart from its predecessor is that it doesn't open with a time jump. However, other than a few tweaks and tasteful additions, Foundation has managed to beat the odds and serve as an impressive small-screen translation of the iconic sci-fi novels. It's currently unknown whether the reduced budget will impact the show's special effects, but the visual quality of Season 3 suggests there won't be much of a problem.
Foundation has added and changed several characters and storylines that never appeared in Isaac Asimov's source material.
However, the legendary sci-fi author's books have otherwise been adhered to with a generous amount of respect. It's unclear if the series will do the same with Second Foundation.
There are, of course, plenty of other stories happening in the show that aren't in the novels. While it's already been a prominent shooting location in previous seasons, others have been used in the past.
Neither Goyer nor Bost will be in the showrunner's chair for Foundation Season 4.
The upcoming run will actually have two showrunners: Ian Goldberg (Fear the Walking Dead) and David Kob (The Flash). While Kob had already written two Foundation episodes before his promotion to co-showrunner, Goldberg is completely new to the project going into Season 4.
She did, however, secure the Second Foundation a new home as Bayta's control of Han Pritcher put the location of Ignis in jeopardy.
